Step 1: Gather hair

We only need a few hairs. The best thing is that you take it at the root. You can easily do this by running a brush through your hair, we can test any type of body hair.

Place the hair on a sheet of paper.

Do this for each person in your test, take a separate paper for each person.

Step 2: Fold Paper

Now fold the paper along the long side. Then fold the paper in half. In this way, we protect the hairs so that they cannot be mixed up during transport.

Do this carefully.

Step 3: Identify Samples

If you have folded the paper in half, your hair will be well closed. Do this for each hair sample. This way, you guarantee that every hair stays with the right person. Take 2 sheets of paper for a duo test and 3 or 4 for a family test.

Write per hair sample on the folded paper in legible capital letters.

Step 4: Saliva Sample

You do this with your own cotton swab. The saliva sample can be taken by passing a cotton swab thoroughly along the inside of both sides of your cheeks, including both ends of the swab. Left with one side and right with the other side. Deliver the cotton swab with the oral mucosa separately packed in a closed sandwich bag, a ziplock bag or something else that can be closed.

Do this for each sample. This way, you guarantee that every sample stays with the right person. So 2 ziplock bags for a duo test and 3 or 4 for a family test.

Write per saliva sample on the bag in legible capital letters.

Step 5: Send samples

Place all samples in an envelope. (eg: If you have bought a duo test, there are 2 sheets of paper in the envelope, and two zipper bags there in your saliva on a cotton swab, clearly described with the name and order number per person.)

Will I receive a test kit at home?
Note: We do not send out physical testing kits for this product:

We do test children under the age of 5 years old but many young children have not yet built up their full tolerance levels to items and this could highlight false positives in their test results.

Our tests are defined as non-ige-mediated. Also referred to food sensitivity or food intolerance tests.

Yes, depending on the severity and type of allergy. Many allergies can be greatly diminished through immunotherapy; a build-up of the body’s immune system response to the specific allergens.

Hair stores DNA type information that gives valuable information pertaining to the cellular changes that would occur within our bodies secondary to exposure to certain allergens. Therefore, if you have never eaten a particular item, it may still show up on your report. In addition, an over consumption of a particular item can also register as an intolerance.

While you may not think you’ve ever eaten a particular food, it is still possible that the protein found in that food was included into some processed good that you’ve previously consumed.

Because we tests your reaction to individual food proteins, it is possible that your body is intolerant to the protein found in gluten while still testing negative for the protein found in barley, oat, wheat or spelt. Still, since these items contain gluten, it is recommended that you avoid them.

Unfortunately, the lab can not send the entire list of items that we test for. You can refer back to the list of items tested on the website if you want to see the list of items tested against. If you do not see the item on your report, then you did not register an intolerance to that item.

We destroy all your hair, saliva, blood samples 48 hours after completing the test. This guarantees your privacy.

It depends on your location, however it takes three days on average to get your test kit after we have processed your order. Please do note that our Combined Hair and Nail health test does not contain a kit.

FAQ: Preparing for the test

Can you Test on children?

We do test children under the age of 5 years old but many young children have not yet built up their full tolerance levels to items and this could highlight false positives in their test results.

Certainly, we can test hair from any part of the body.

Hair dye or other treatments have no effect on the results as the test is administered on the composition of your hair sample.

We only require 2 to 4 strands of your hair which can be any type of hair. We do prefer hair samples that have a root stem.

Brush your hair to uncover the root zone at the back of the head with a brush. Take the hair from the brush guaranteeing there is a root appended. Place the hair sample in a sealed, marked, plastic bag. Such a bag is provided in our home testing kit for each person.

  • Do not brush teeth before collecting sample. Do not eat or drink for 15 minutes prior to sample collection.
  • Collect the morning saliva cortisol sample between 07.00h and 09.00h. Collect the late night sample between 23.00h and 24.00h. Collect samples in a Sarstedt Salivette Tube which you will receive in our home testing kit.
  • Hold the Salivette at the rim of the suspended insert and remove the stopper. Removal of the stopper is easier if you slightly push it to the side when  opening the suspended insert.
  • Do not touch the swab with fingers. Remove the cotton swab from the Salivette by tipping the container so the swab falls directly into mouth.
  • To collect the saliva, roll the swab in your mouth. Do not chew the swab.
    Keep the swab in your mouth until you feel that you can no longer prevent yourself from swallowing the saliva produced. This normally takes about 60 to 90 seconds but may take a little longer.
  • Then spit the swab back into the suspended insert without touching it. Close the Salivette firmly with the stopper.

We prefer to send all samples in one envelope. Make sure to use a plastic bag per person do not mix hair samples of different persons. Make sure to label all samples to which the samples belong.

Most likely you have purchased the test as a guest and later decide to log in. Due to the nature of fast and effortless guest checkouts, the order is separated from your account email.

If you decide to login later and can’t find the order, send us an email and our technical staff will manually attach your account email to your order number.

In the report you will find several headings. Each list the tested values. These values are shown as a color value in green (safe), orange (average risk), red (caution)

Everything on the food intolerances and non-food intolerances here has an intolerance level of over 60% as you will see from the percentage levels on the right hand side. The reason we report only above this threshold is because 60% is the point at which you would expect to start experiencing symptoms from an intolerance. Everything on the list of nutrition has an level under 15%.
